DURATION

The
Advanced Modern Apprenticeship lasts normally 2 to 3 years
depending on the ability of the Apprentice and the willingness
of the employer to provide the training and opportunities
to improve their skills.

FUNDING
|
|
Limited
funding is available to assist employers and where possible
the SPA Print Qualifications Centre will work with the
employer in accessing this money. Obtaining funding
is an area where the correct presentation to the funding
providers will optimise the amount that is obtained.
Advanced
Modern Apprenticeships are an opportunity to regenerate
the skill base of the industry.

This
higher grade Apprenticeship provides high level skills
for young people seeking a career in the printing
industry. It will take them to skilled operator level.
Advanced Modern Apprenticeships are based on NVQ's/SVQ's.
A young person aged between 16 and 24 can work through
their Apprenticeship, it must be completed by their
25th birthday. They will have to attain Level 2 NVQ/SVQ
and Level 3 NVQ/SVQ in their chosen discipline along
with GNVQ/GSVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Key Skills.

To
achieve this there has to be a delivery mechanism
for training, a means of monitoring the performance
of the Apprentice and a commitment from the Apprentice,
the Employer, the Training Provider, and the Funding
Body.

The
Apprentice has to agree to work hard at achieving
the Qualifications.

The
Employer has to commit to providing the opportunities
for this to happen in Safe Working Conditions.

The
Funding Body has to agree to provide financial
support based on reaching agreed milestones, and
oversee the quality of the whole scheme.

The
Training Provider has to contract to provide the
agreed level of training and support to the Apprentice
and the Company, working within a delivery structure
approved by the National Training Organisation.
